rez Mentoring

Learning to live independently can be tough and doesn’t have to be done alone. Some young people don’t need intensive caseworkers but rather someone who they can talk to about life and learning everyday life skills.

REZ Mentoring provides young people with a trusted adult to help them build life skills and help build their resilience and confidence to maintain their tenancy or living arrangement.

Research informs us that quality mentoring relationships for young people have powerful positive effects.

How REZ Mentoring works:

Eligibility checklist:

16-25years old
From Blacktown, The Hills, Parramatta or Cumberland LGA’s
Have limited personal supports (eg family/friends) and would benefit from other supports
Have experienced some hardship

Steps for young people:

Meet and greet with mentor

Mentoring begins! 3 month program

Who are our mentors?

‘Our mentors are all university students who are currently studying relevant courses such as psychology, social work, youth work or welfare.’

All our mentors undergo thorough screening and training before they are matched with a young person.

Screening includes:
  1. Working with children checks
  2. National criminal history checks
  3. University check
  4. Reference checks
